Defragging a Hard Drive.

Windows has a built-in maintenace utility for helping to keep your hard drives running smoothly.

It is recommended to run this utility in Windows Safe Mode. Click here for complete instructions on How to Boot Windows into Safe Mode.

The Defrag utility is found under Start-Programs-Accessories-System Tools in Windows XP.

Or just type Defrag into the search field in Windows Vista.

Select the hard drive you wish to defrag and click the Defragment button.

It is recommended to run the Defrag Utility once every 2 months on average.
