Enable Remote Viewing within EZ Watch 4.0

When EZ Watch Pro 4.0 is first installed, all networking functions are present but disabled. If you wish to view your cameras remotely, you must enable these functions.

All networking functions are accessed by clicking on 'Config', then 'Network Service'.

Live Streaming Server

This server allows you to connect from a remote location and view a live video (And audio, if present) feed from your cameras. The server must be started and running to be able to view your cameras from a remote location. If your server status is Stopped, click on Start to begin it. You will need to stop and re-start the server if you need to make any changes to the server's settings.

Each time you connect and view one camera, you use up a single connection. If you are viewing four cameras, you have four connections. By default, the maximum connections for the Live Streaming server is 16. If you have a large number of cameras, or if you are getting errors stating you've reached the limit of maximum connections, you will need to increase this number. Please be aware that more connections will slow down the video, so setting a limit that is too high may result in poor quality video when viewing remotely. The server must be stopped to adjust this setting.

The server will operate on port 5150 by default, and it is not recommended that you change this port. If you are viewing your cameras from the Internet Explorer web browser and you are not using port 80, you will need to change the Default Web Server port to 8000 (Or whatever port you chose to use). Please note that to change the default web server port, both the Live Streaming Server and the Remote Playback Server must BOTH be stopped.

Remote Playback Server

This server allows you to connect from a remote location and play back previously recorded video (And audio, if present). The server must be started and running to be able to play back clips. If your server status is Stopped, click on Start to begin it. You will need to stop and re-start the server if you need to make any changes to the server's settings.

Each time you search through and play back video, you use a single connection (no matter how many cameras you view). Up to 8 connections may be maintained simultaneously. We do not normally recommend increasing this limit, as more than 8 people playing back clips simultaneously may use up a tremendous amount of bandwidth, slowing the networking significantly. The server must be stopped to adjust this setting.

The server will operate on port 5160 by default, and it is not recommended that you change this port.

3GPP Server

This server allows you to connect to the cameras using a 3G capable device (Cellular phone or PDA). The device must be on a 3G cellular network and support RTSP (Real-Time Streaming Protocol). If you have such a device, then you can connect and view your cameras remotely.

When you wish to connect remotely to view your cameras, you must put the following address into your 3G device :

rtsp://<IP ADDRESS>:554/mediaXX.3gp

mediaXX is the camera number you wish to view. To view camera one, you would view media00.3gp. Camera two would be media01.3gp and so on and so forth. If you have a device which supports 3G but cannot view RTSP addresses then you will not be able to view your cameras from that device. The server must be started if you wish to use this feature.

At this time, the only confirmed compatible devices are :

Nokia Phones - N73, N95, 6120, 6110 BenQ Phones - P50, P51, E81 Motorola Phones - V8

The server will operate on port 554 by default, and we do not recommend changing it. The standard Port Forwarding setup does not normally have you forward that port, so if you are behind a router you will need to follow the guide on How to set up Remote Access on EZ Watch Pro 4.0, and add port 554 to the list.

Remote Desktop Server

This is a new feature introduced in EZ Watch Pro 4.3. If you do not see this option in your Network Service window, you will need to download the updated software to gain access to it. This server will allow you to remotely take control of the PC running EZ Watch Pro 4.0 Main Console, to make changes or control the system. The server must be running for you to be able to remotely take control of it.

To be able to use this function you must install the Remote Desktop Viewer from the EZ Watch Pro 4.3 CD (Or from the 'C:\EZ Watch Install Files\Remote Desktop Viewer\' directory if you downloaded the update) on the remote computer. The remote desktop viewer will simply ask for an IP address, password, and port to connect. Because anyone using the Remote Desktop Viewer will have full, 100% control of the PC it is HIGHLY recommended that you put a check mark in 'Enable User Authentication'. With that option checked, anyone who wishes to connect and control the PC must enter in the 'admin' password.

The server will operate on port 5140 by default, and it is not recommended that you change this port.

Central Management

This feature is currently in development and is not yet functional. Starting this server will have no effect, but may use additional system resources. It is therefor recommended that the server be left in the 'stopped' state.
