The EZ-EYE unit is a simple but effective surveillance unit that can be rapidly set up for immediate use. The steps provided here will allow you to rapidly set it up for use for the first time.

  • Step 1 - For the initial configuration, go ahead and plug the unit in to a Television set using the provided RCA cable. Turn your TV's video to the appropriate input (usually 'INPUT1' or 'VCR1'). Plug the unit into the wall to power it; it is not recommended to use the batteries for this setup.

  • Step 2 - Turn the unit on using the power button at the side. When the image shows up, press the 'MENU' button on the back of the unit to enter the menu. While in the menu, the up/down (Stop and play respectively) buttons will move your cursor, and the + (Fast forward) button is used to select options. First go into the 'Set Date/Time' section.

  • Step 3 - Use the arrow up/down keys to navigate the fields here, and the +/- buttons to increase or decrease the numbers. Set the current date and time on this screen. When finished, press Menu to return to the main menu.

  • Step 4 - Configure your recording. The unit can record one of two ways, either constantly or when it sees motion.

    • Motion Detection Recording - First you must configure the motion detection. Click on 'Set Motion Detect'. You will see a screen with an 'energy' bar at the bottom. The 'energy' bar shows you how much motion that camera sees. If you move in front of the camera you will see the bar fill higher when it sees larger and faster motion, and slower when it sees smaller and slower motion. Whenever the energy goes beyond the red 'Threshold' bar, the camera will trigger the motion recording. If you need to lower the threshold, use the - button here to do so. After you've set the sensitivity, hit Menu.

Go into the 'Schedule Record' section, and enter 'Motion Recording'. Turn the recording ON. Once the recording is on it MUST have a starting and ending time. If you wish to record all day, we recommend setting it to 00:00 through 23:59. The 'duration' field is how long the camera will record before it stops and starts watching for motion again. The 'video size' field is the resolution; higher resolution uses up the memory inside the camera faster, but records higher detail. 'Frame Rate' is how smooth and fluid the video is; a higher framerate is very smooth and realistic movement, lower framerate is jerky with obvious 'gaps' in the motion. High framerates use up the memory inside the camera very fast. Quality is the same way; the higher the quality, the faster the inernal memory is used up.

    • Continuous Recording - Continuous recording simply records everything, even if no motion is present. Continuous motion can operate one of two ways : By simply pressing the record button on the back to start/stop the recording, or by setting up a schedule for when it should record. If you wish to set up a recording schedule, enter the 'Schedule Record' section then enter 'Continue Record'. Turn the recording On, and enter the times the unit should record. The 'video size' field is the resolution; higher resolution uses up the memory inside the camera faster, but records higher detail. High framerates use up the memory inside the camera very fast. Quality is the same way; the higher the quality, the faster the inernal memory is used up.

  • Step 5 - Once you have completed setting up the recording, hit the menu button until it goes back to a live screen with no menu up. Once here, at the top you will see the date and time. Along the bottom you will see several icons. They are listed here :

Image:Recording.jpg - This image indicates the camera is CURRENTLY recording and will rotate in place for the duration of the recording.
Image:Manual_Rec.jpg - This image indicates the camera is recording constantly because the button on the back of the unit was pressed.
Image:Continue_Rec.jpg - This image indicates the camera is recording constantly because the 'continuous' recording schedule is turned on.
Image:Motion_Rec.jpg - This image indicates the camera is recording only when it sees motion.

Image:FullStop.jpg - This image indicates the camera is in 'Full Stop' mode and will stop recording when the memory reaches 0%.
Image:OverWrite.jpg - This image indicates the camera is in 'Overwrite' mode and will automatically record over the oldest images with

Once this setup is complete and you can see that the unit IS recording, it is safe to turn it off, move it to a new location, and turn it back on again. It will now operate normally with either batteries or with the plug-in wall adapter.
