How to remove and reinstall EZWatch Software

On occasion, it may be necessary to uninstall the EZ Watch Pro software and reinstall it to resolve a technical issue, or to reset the system. This article will guide you through removing EZ Watch Pro from your system and deleting any traces that may not get properly removed, then help you reinstall.

  • Note: Reinstaling your software will make your EZWatch recorded video clips unaccessible. If you have a specific clip(s) you want to save, use the "Backup System" feature. (see page 66 in user manual) If you would like to save you database making it accessible after reinstalling please read our How to backup your Main Console Database using DB Tools article.


STEP 1 - Uninstall the EZ Watch Pro software from your computer. Please see How to uninstall EZ Watch software for step-by-step instructions on removing EZ Watch Pro.

STEP 2 - The Registry Keys created by EZ Watch Pro must be removed to ensure that no settings from the previous installation remain. If there was a problem with the previous installation, these settings could adversely affect your new installation. STEP 3 - Shut down the PC by clicking on Start, click on 'Shut Down', then select 'Shut down the PC' from the drop-down box. Once the system has completely powered down unplug the computer's power cord. NOTE - Unplugging the power cord before the system is fully powered down may result in the loss or corruption of data on your PC.

STEP 4 - Remove the EZ Watch Pro PCI capature cards from your computer. Guides on removing/installing the capture cards can be found within our manuals. If you are running version 3.0, please see page 24 in your manual. If you are running version 4.0 or later, please see page 6 in your manual.   • (For version 3.0 and 3.1 only) If you have multiple cards, each card id numbered in sequence (IE : 1400AS 0, 1400 AS 1, 1400 AS 2, etc.) Make sure you know which card is #0, #1, #2, or #3 when you remove them as it will be important to reinstall them in the same order.

STEP 5 - Plug the power cable back in. Turn on the system if it does not start up automatically.

STEP 6 - Go to our Download Center to download the correct version of software. (If it asks) enter username: ezwatch password: pro and click “RUN”

If you are using version 3.X, then you will need to match the model # of the card to the software. The model # is printed on a white sticker on the center of the card, and will read along the lines of '1400AS, 3404HS, 5404HS, 1600RD, etc.'.

Once the EZ Watch Pro software has been downloaded, a box will pop up prompting you to extract the software. On this box, click on 'Install'. Upon completion of the extraction, the CD menu will appear on the screen - follow the directions in your manual to reinstall the software.

* If you do not have a internet connection use the software installation CD.

STEP 7 - Shut the PC down once more, and unplug the power cable once it is fully powered down.

STEP 8 - Install the PCI card(s) back into the system.

  • (on version 3.0 and 3.1 only) If you have multiple version 3.X cards, ensure they are put back into the system in the proper order with card #0 in the first (topmost) slot.

STEP 9 - Plug the power cable back in. Turn on the system if it does not start up automatically.

STEP 10 - After Windows has started, The Found New Hardware Wizard may be displayed on your screen to install the drivers. Simply choose the default option Install the software automatically (Recommended) and click "Next" and "Finish."

After the drivers have been installed the software is ready to be launched.
