The EZ Watch Pro 4.0 Surveillance Systems allow for high-quality, clear audio recording to be set up side-by-side with the video recording. Every 4.0 capture card has at least one audio input, though many offer even more :

  • Every single 4-camera Business Grade capture card has 1 audio input (Thus if you have 2 cards you have 2 inputs).
  • Every single 16-channel Business Grade Capture card has 4 audio inputs (So 4 audio for a 16-cam system, and 8 audio for a 32-cam system).
  • Every Professional Grade capture card has the same number of audio inputs as it has video inputs. 4-camera kits have 4 audio inputs, 16-camera kits have 16 audio inputs, etc.

Setting up audio recording is very simple and direct :

Physical Connections :

Each Audio input on the cards are labelled, and have a different-colored cable connection. The connectors are RCA composite inputs, but as there is only a single input all audio is Mono (NOT stereo). Please make certain that your microphone has an RCA composite input. (Please note that the Audio Mic Kits sold by EZ Watch Pro have BNC-Style connectors with an RCA adapter on the end, so they WILL be compatible with the business grade cards.)

Professional Grade cards use a BNC style audio input on their jacks. If you're using the Audio Mic Kit sold by EZ Watch, simply remove the RCA adapter and the cable will plug in directly. If using a 3rd Party Microphone, you will need to get a BNC adapter for your mic for it to be able to connect.

Software Recording :

Within the software, the recording is setup on a per-camera basis.

  • If you are using a Business Grade 4-camera card, then each audio input corresponds to the first video input on that card. This means that on the first card, the audio is on Camera 1. On the second card the audio is on camera 5, the third card the audio is on camera 9, etc.
  • If you are using a Business Grade 16-camera card, then each audio input corresponds to the first four video inputs on that card. So card one has audio on Cameras 1, 2, 3, and 4 and card 2 (If present) has audio on cameras 17, 18, 19, and 20.
  • With Professional Grade, the Audio port matches the Video Port. If you plug in audio to Port #3, then camera #3 has the video.

Open your recording schedule by clicking on the 'Schedule' button at the bottom of the page. You will see a list of cameras present. Select the camera which has the audio (Using the guide above), then double-click on the schedule that appears in the box below. Lastly, place a check-box next to 'Record Audio' in the schedule properties, and click 'OK' twice to exit.

Live Audio :

Click on 'Config', then go to the 'Settings' menu. At the bottom center of the general tab is the 'Audio Preview' section. Here you can select the default audio channel to be played while the system is in use. If you select 'Preview Active channel' then you can control which audio channel is being used by left-clicking on a particular camera's video (The currently active camera will be surrounded in a green outline).
